If your opponent is taking a 'power build' you won't stand much of a chance. If this is your first game, you won't understand how unbelievably tough they are, until after the game. You'll be straight-up outclassed by the Necron codex. assuming you resolve the Lascannons First. So if you pen with the Lascannons, you resolve the AC at the lower AV. Remember that in 7th, shots are resolved by group. As a fast vehicle, you can move a good distance, still fire the two LC and either snap or regular fire the AC at the reduced AV. If they're using lots of ground-based vehicles, then Preds with AC / 2x LC can be handy. So Land Raiders are about as easy to glance to death as a Rhino.
Necron Gauss weaponry glances a vehicle on a pen roll of 6, regardless of strength.
It's nice to fire into a big chunk of Warriors, if your opponent is going that route.
